This compact, 1.1 kg radio packs base-station-level performance into a handheld-sized body.
Key Specifications & Features: All-Mode Frequency Coverage: Supports HF, 50MHz, 144MHz (2m), and 430MHz (70cm) bands for SSB, CW, RTTY, AM, and FM modes, as well as the D-STAR DV digital mode. The transceiver also supports continuous reception (General Coverage RX) from 30kHz to 144MHz, including FM radio broadcasts and the airband.
SDR Technology & Real-Time Scope: Inheriting the RF Direct Sampling system from the IC-7300, this radio features a high-resolution real-time spectrum scope and waterfall display on a 4.3-inch color touchscreen, allowing for visual monitoring of frequency activity.
Transmit Power (Power Output): 5 Watts when operating on the standard internal battery (Icom BP-272); 10 Watts when connected to an external 13.8 VDC power supply.
Wireless Connectivity & GPS: Equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an internal GPS antenna. The GPS feature facilitates position tracking for D-STAR, GPS logging, and automatic searching for nearby repeaters.
Digital Mode Convenience (FT8): The radio includes built-in presets for FT8. Users simply select the FT8 preset option to configure all audio and data settings at once, eliminating complex manual setup processes. Connectors and Storage
Regarding its physical interfaces, the IC-705 features a single BNC-type antenna connector covering all frequency bands, a microSD card slot for storing voice recordings, photos, and communication logs, and a Micro-USB port that supports dual virtual COM ports for computer interconnection.
